Privacy

Last updated 8 October 2026

Ghuri has no accounts, no sign-up, no adverts and no analytics. Nothing you do in the app is recorded, and there is no server of ours for it to be recorded on.

What the app does with your location

If you turn on Find my location or Follow me, the app reads your position from the device, only while the app is open. It is used to show your dot on the map, to measure how far away a place is, and to work out a route when you ask for one.

Your position is never stored and never sent to us. The app has no server and no database.

The app does not use location in the background. Close it and it stops reading your position.

What is sent to other services, and when

The app has no data of its own, so it asks public mapping and weather services for what it shows you. These requests contain map coordinates. They do not contain your name, your device identity, or any account, because the app does not have any of those.

ServiceWhat it is sentWhen
OpenStreetMapwhich map squares to drawwhenever the map moves
Photon, Nominatimwhat you typed, or the point you tappedwhen you search or tap a place
Overpassthe point you are looking aroundwhen you open Stay, Eat, Essentials or See
Valhalla, OSRMyour position and the destinationonly when you ask for a route
Open-Meteothe coordinates of the placewhen you open Weather
RainViewer, NASAwhich map squares to drawwhen you turn on radar or satellite

Each of these runs under its own privacy policy. None of them is given anything that identifies you.

What is kept on your device

All of that sits in your own browser storage on your own device. Clear the app's data, or remove the app, and it is gone. None of it reaches anyone else.

Children

The app is a public map and travel guide. It collects nothing from anyone, of any age.

Accuracy, and what you should check yourself

Place information comes from OpenStreetMap, which volunteers maintain, and coverage outside the larger towns is thinner. Bus, train, airline and launch operators are a hand-written list kept in the app: it names who usually runs a route, but carries no timetables or fares, because those change constantly. Always confirm with the operator before travelling. Weather is a forecast and can be wrong.
